About Carolyn
Greene Sponge Insurance Agency is one person. Carolyn owns it, runs it, writes every policy, and answers the phone when it rings. It is a subsidiary of Watson Insurance Agency, Inc. of Johnstown, PA.
How she got here
Carolyn was born in Markleysburg, in southwestern Pennsylvania — a town of about 300 people. At 15, she wanted an ATV, so she got a job at the local resort. She stayed 16 years, working her way from housekeeping to the front desk to catering to director of sales.
That is where she learned the thing that still runs her business: customer service first. The customer is always correct, and the question she asks herself is always the same — how would I want to be treated?
She had great mentors along the way, and now she loves being one. Mentoring others and giving back is part of who she is.
In 2023 she was ready for a change. She knew several insurance agents, talked to a couple of friends, took their advice — and by October she had her license in Pennsylvania, with West Virginia right after.
She loves helping people. In insurance, that means making sure you are covered if something happens. And she loves saving people money — but never by sacrificing the coverage.
Family first
Family is Carolyn’s number-one priority, and she thinks yours should be too. She is married to Michael Pasqua, has a grown son and daughter-in-law, and two young grandchildren — and she loves spending time with all of them.
That is how she treats her clients, too: protecting your family with the right coverages, so if something happens, you are covered.
Giving back
Carolyn loves to network and loves her communities. She is a member of the BNI Integrity Chapter in Morgantown, where she currently serves as vice president. She gives back however she can, wherever she can.
She is independent, which changes the answer you get
A captive agent works for one company and can only sell you what that company has. Carolyn is independent, so she runs your details past several carriers and comes back with the one that fits. Sometimes that means telling you the policy you already have is fine and she cannot beat it. She would rather say that than move you for the sake of it.
Licensed in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Ohio
The state line runs right through how people here live. Plenty of families in Point Marion and Masontown work in Morgantown, own a camp on the other side, or have a kid at the university. Being licensed in three states means one person handles all of it instead of two agents each covering half. She writes statewide in Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Ohio clients are served remotely. There is no Ohio office.
She answers her own phone
There is no staff, no menu, no queue, and no service center. When you call or text, you get Carolyn. A good bit of her business happens by text, which suits people who cannot take a call during the workday.
Remote, or in person by appointment
Most of the work happens by phone, text, and email. If you want to sit down together, that is by appointment at her home office, 115 N Main St in Masontown, or at WV The Torch, 450 Leonard Ave in Fairmont. No walk-ins. Reach out first.
